#7 - The Historian's Role

Show notes

In this episode we speak with Professor Mette Buchardt (Department of Culture and Learning, Aalborg University) about the role historians of education can play in educational policy formation and debates. Particularly in the context of Welfare state politics, we discuss Mette Buchardt’s experiences as the head of the Center for Educational Policy Research at Aalborg University, and dive into the lessons she has learned over her many years as a historian and educational researcher. Additionally, Mette Buchardt provides some salient advice for early career researchers, and engages in fun conversations with us about Barbie, licorice, night clubs, and being a good parent to historical sources. Laudatio by Dr. Jin Hui Li (Department of Culture and Learning, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Center for Education Policy Research at Aalborg University)
